Come cloud or sun, hot or cold, day or night, you will find tennis being played in Hartfield (once the precipitation rate returns to normal!).

Join Us Now!

We are a friendly village club located on the Town Croft in the centre of Hartfield along side the village Cricket Green.

Founded in 1965 as a members only club we welcome new members of all standards – whether you are keen to play competitively, socially or are completely new to the game – there is something for everyone.

The club is affiliated with the Lawn Tennis Association and is run by a dedicated committee, headed by Rob Cawthorne (Club Chairman).

Club News

The job of replacing the fencing and the repainting of the Peter Norman court has been completed. The Bear pub has tightened up their parking restrictions, but Tennis Club members may park in their car park, as long as they buy food or drink after playing. It is a requirement that the Bear staff are notified at the time you park there. New signs for the club have been designed and are now displayed on two sides of the top court. Please note this message from our Chairman:    our floodlights are turned on by inserting a token found in a tennis ball tube close to the machine. Each token provides 15mins of time.   It is important to insert further tokens individually with a pause after each to allow the time indication to increase by an extra 15mins before inserting another. This will avoid a jam which caused the problem we have recently experienced. When playing, a green courtesy light attached to the centre floodlight post nearest the clubhouse will illuminate indicating that the floodlights will turn off  in 5mins unless another token is inserted. If you wish to continue playing it’s important to do this as soon as you are able. If the lights do go out then they will not be available again for at least 15mins due to a filament protection system!
